Ohio has an important election this November!  Our members were engaged in getting Ohioans to vote in the August special election so that we now must put forth the same energy to get Ohioans to Vote Yes on Issue 1 in November.

Issue 1 provides that every individual has a right to make and carry out their own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to decisions on contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, miscarriage care, and abortion.

Here are three important things you can do now:

1. Make sure your Ohio voter registration is up to date, even if you just voted in August. The deadline to register to vote for the November election is October 10. Go to to register or make sure your registration is accurate. Do the same for your voting age children and remind your friends and relatives to check their Ohio voting registration. Remember, young voters can register to vote as long as they will be 18 by November 7.

2. Make your plan to vote. If you will be voting by mail, you can request your mail in ballot now. Go to complete the form you’ll need to request your mail-in (absentee) ballot.  Remember, in Ohio you cannot request the ballot online. You must complete and print the request form at the above website, and then you will need to mail the form to your county board of election.

3. Make sure you know exactly what is in the amendment (and what is NOT in the amendment) and be ready to fight the misinformation campaign. Take a few minutes to read the amendment yourself at and encourage others to do the same.

Vote Yes on Issue 1; keep government out of our families’ personal decisions
