The St. Louis Jewish community is still reeling from the heartbreaking news of six innocent hostages being brutally murdered in Gaza—a tragedy deeply felt during a solemn vigil held last night at United Hebrew Congregation. Nearly 200 mourners gathered, lighting six candles and offering prayers for the safe return of the 101 hostages who remain in captivity. Tonight, in the shadow of this tragedy, the nation will once again come together for the National Vigil for Hostages in Washington, DC, with the event being livestreamed for those unable to attend.
A nation united in grief and hope
The vigil tonight will honor the lives of those who have been lost and unite in a plea for the safe and immediate return of the remaining hostages. In the wake of the weekend’s tragic news, community members, interfaith leaders, and hostage family members will speak out, urging leaders to bring home all hostages before more lives are lost.
