EXPLORING COLLEGE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES: PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS


Starting college can be exciting and overwhelming, especially if you have a disability.
Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth transition from high school and
make the most of your college experience.

Speaker: Mara Byers, Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Opportunities for
Ohioans with Disabilities.

This session will cover:

  1. Understanding the Transition: Using the office of disability services and how
    expectations differ between high school and college.
  2. Rights and disability laws to protect you and ensure access to accommodations.
  3. Finding support on a college campus and community resources
  4. How to advocate for yourself to effectively communicate your needs with
    professors and staff.
