EXPLORING COLLEGE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES: PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS
Starting college can be exciting and overwhelming, especially if you have a disability.
Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth transition from high school and
make the most of your college experience.
Speaker: Mara Byers, Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Opportunities for
Ohioans with Disabilities.
This session will cover:
- Understanding the Transition: Using the office of disability services and how
expectations differ between high school and college. - Rights and disability laws to protect you and ensure access to accommodations.
- Finding support on a college campus and community resources
- How to advocate for yourself to effectively communicate your needs with
professors and staff.
