On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, teenagers from our local high schools, in cooperation with the National Council of Jewish Women/Cleveland held the 9thAnnual Share What You Wear (SWYW) event at the Double Tree by Hilton, Tudor Arms Hotel, 10660 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland. OH. The teens, their friends, and the NCJW volunteers helped children and their caregivers from various social agencies in Cleveland select clothing and school supplies that were donated throughout the year.
Share What You Wear began after two Orange High School students, Zoe Baris and Samantha Zabell, volunteered at NCJW/Cleveland’s Designer Dress Days and were inspired to do something meaningful and helpful for others. They felt that recycling their gently worn clothing for children from newborn to age 18 might fill an important need for kinship care families in the Cleveland community. Their proposal became a part of the Dignity and More! Community Service Project, which provides support to the Kinship Care program of the Senior and Adult Services Department of Cuyahoga County.
The NCJW/Cleveland Chairpersons are Jill Braun, Debbie Rosenthal and Kelly Markowitz.
