Reading aloud with young children is not only one of the best activities to stimulate language and cognitive skills; it also builds motivation, curiosity, and memory.

Then in the description we can have this:

Reading Buddies is a literacy program where volunteers read and are read to weekly by second , third, and fourth graders at William Rainey Harper School. It is an opportunity to give a child  support,  kindness,  encouragement,  and a non partial ear.
Each volunteer comes weekly to read to the same scholar, during their lunch period, approximately 45 minutes per session.  Books are provided by NCJW. Scholars are chosen by the teachers. The scholars look forward to seeing the volunteers and so constancy is important.
All volunteers must be fingerprinted at a Cleveland Metropolitan School’s location,  regardless of whether fingerprinting took place at another location. The substitutes also need to be fingerprinted.  This is Ohio law. Substitutes are provided with the books the scholars are reading, information regarding the scholar, and any materials needed.
It is important that everyone child can read on grade level. A volunteer is rewarded with helping a scholar move toward that goal. Many of our scholars just need a weekly boost and encouragement.
